Flat Green Beans sabji and Event Announcement

Hi all,
Its very difficult for most of the mothers to decide what to cook for their children. It should be healthy and tasty too. There are many packaged foods available in the market, like jam, soups, noodles, etc but home made food is fresh and does not have any preservatives.

It could be great if there could be a weekly menu decided for the children. We all know that proper nutritional diet is so important for the development of child's mind and body. Iron deficiency in food could lead to mental weakness and anemia ; lack of vitamin C in food could cause your children to get frequent cold and cough.

That's why I decided to announce this event so that we could have a good collection of recipes that we can give to small children in the age range 1-10 yrs.

You can mail your recipes to ver.akanksha@gmail.com, with the subject "Kids menu event".
Include:
 your name,
recipe url ,
your location
and picture of the recipe in your mail.

Here are some rules for the event;
1) recipe should be suitable for kids in the age range 1-10 yrs
2) you have to include the nutritional information of the dish. No need to write exact calories but you can give an idea of the main nutrients it contains
3)vegetarian recipes and egg is okay but non veg recipe is not okay
4)you can mail multiple entries
5)home made medicines for cold, cough, stomach ache etc are also welcome
6)Please include the logo and event announcement link to your post

EVERY RECIPE WILL BE TRIED AND REPOSTED HERE...
The winner will be decided on grounds of recipe procedure ease and nutritional value and taste. An exciting gveaway will be given to the winner.

I try to incorporate green vegetables in daily diet and here is one such recipe of flat green beans (called "sem" in hindi). It is rich in fiber and protiens and children can have it too if you have not added green chilli to it.

Ingredients:
1 cup flat green beans chopped
1/2 cup potatoes chopped
1/4 cup green peas boiled (optional)
salt to taste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
a pinch of asaoetida powder(hing)
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 green chilli chopped
1 tbsp oil
Method:
Heat oil in a kadai.
Add fenugreek seeds, hing and green chilli. Let them splutter.
Now add the vegetables and green peas. Add turmeric and salt. Mix well and cover.
After 5 minutes, remove lid and stir. Cover again and cook on low flame till vegetables are tender.
Keep stirring in between to avoid burning.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with dal, rotis and rice.
